FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Does Applied Counseling Group accept insurance?

We do not participate with any insurance companies. However, many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. We will provide you with a monthly statement containing all the information your insurance company requires to process a claim. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before starting treatment to understand your out-of-network coverage.

What are the session fees?

Individual or family session: $225 for a 45-minute session

Initial assessment: $350 for a 75-minute session

We maintain a limited number of sliding scale spots. Please reach out to inquire about availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice for cancellations. A $100 fee applies to late cancellations or missed appointments.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. We offer telehealth sessions for clients located in New York, Connecticut, and Florida.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an extended assessment (75 minutes) where we take time to understand the concern, the history, and what's been tried before. From there we discuss what treatment might look like and whether we're a good fit.

How long does treatment typically take?

We do not believe in open-ended treatment. The goal is independence from therapy.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before beginning services. We provide this to all clients at the start of treatment.

Do you work directly with children or only with parents?

Both. For childhood anxiety we often use SPACE, an approach that works directly with parents. But depending on your child's age, what's going on, and their willingness to engage, we may also work with them individually - or combine both approaches.
