Living with someone who is struggling

Telehealth across New York, Connecticut, and Florida.

We don't live in a bubble

Mental health conditions don't only affect the person who has one. When you live with a spouse, child, or family member facing something like depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, autism, narcissistic traits, dementia, or another mental health or neurological condition, it shapes your daily life. It sets the energy in your home. It impacts your well-being.

Maybe it feels difficult to live the life you imagine because your loved one requires so much support. This loved one might even push your buttons, leaving you to feel like part of the problem. At times you may dread being in the room with them because the energy is so heavy. You may want to help but don't know how. Maybe you just want to get away.

This isn't about blame. Your loved one may be doing their best, and you can still be worn down by living alongside it.

You may be here because…

  • You're holding everyone else together, and it's exhausting.
  • You walk on eggshells. It's easier to tread softly than risk starting something.
  • The mood at home feels heavy, and it's hard to stay upbeat.
  • You can't tend to your own life because this situation is all consuming.
  • You love someone who's struggling, and you don't know how to help.
  • You catch yourself snapping or shutting down, and it's not who you want to be.

How we help

Most often the person with a mental condition is prioritized by default. But we work to elevate your experience, and your life. You can't fix someone else's disorder, but you can learn to take care of yourself alongside it. We help you build skills to regulate your own emotions, set boundaries, and respond to hard moments. We work to make your life the best it can be in your reality.

What to expect

We start by understanding your situation. What's hardest? What's working? What do you want for yourself? From there we build a path forward together.
